My name is Matías Rubén Bolaños, I am a postdoctoral researcher at the QuantumFuture group at the University of Padova, as well as a Quantum Scientist and Embedded Systems Engineer at ThinkQuantum.

I obtained my Licenciatura en Física (5-year degree) at Universidad Nacional de La Plata in 2021, with a thesis entitled “Detección y conteo de fotones en experimentos de óptica cuántica”. This work received a special mention for the Másperi Award at the 106th Annual Meeting of the Argentine Physics Association.

I later obtained my PhD in Information Engineering from the University of Padova in 2026, with a thesis entitled “Development of High-Performance Systems for Quantum Communications”. During my PhD, I developed several FPGA components for use in laboratory environments, studied quantum key distribution across several degrees of freedom (polarization, time-bin, and, briefly, continuous variables), and performed a loophole-aware Bell test within the laboratory building.
